For our purposes, the Chevy Chase area begins at Nebraska Avenue in the south and ends at Chevy Chase Circle. Connecticut Avenue continues north of the circle into Maryland but our area of interest ends at the circle. This is also the end of the road (or the beginning) for the L1, L2, and L4 buses -- Chevy Chase Circle is where they turn around and head back south towards Dupont Circle.
The closest neighborhood on Connecticut Avenue to the state of Maryland, the Town of Chevy Chase, has been around a long time. Connecticut Avenue forms the eastern edge of the town as the avenue continues northwards into Maryland.
The Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church located at 1 Chevy Chase Circle will celebrate its centenary in 2008.
Seventy nine businesses are listed in our database for the Chevy Chase area including ten apartment buildings, five places to eat, including the American City Diner, six banks, two florists, and, of course, a Starbucks. There is also a Chevy Chase Citizens Association.
